Hello, my name is Jordan Johnson. I am 20 years young and attending my sophomore year here at West Texas A&M University. I am from a small town and consider myself a country kid. I have been around cattle since the day I was born. I showed steers throughout high school and now I currently work with show calves here in Canyon. Being around cattle relaxes me when I am stressed about school or life in general. I am not the cattle whisperer by any means but I do consider myself somewhat of an expert in the cattle business. I understand how important the feeding schedule is to the cattle. The need to be on a strict diet to stay healthy and need to be fed on time because the cattle get use to the routine. One hobby I love to be around are of course stock shows. After all that hard work you put in feeding, cleaning and handling the cattle, it feels good to go to a show and compete with others that have also worked that hard. I also love to play golf. When I am not at the barns I am at the golf course relaxing as much as I can or I am goofing off with my friends. While I am not at the barns or golfing, I have to go get this thing called an education. I love any type of Agriculture classes because you can learn so much more than you could even think about. Agriculture is the most important subject that more people need to know about. Without farmers and ranchers, people would go hungry. Other than Ag classes, I somewhat enjoy math class. I know its hard and most people hate it but you learn something new every time you pick up a pencil. I am very passionate in morals and how straight forward people should be. there are to many people in this world that are two faced, liars and sensitive people. Just speak your mind, back up your beliefs and don't let anyone tell you differently. You live in a free country, start acting free! I would love to know more about political issues. Most people say it isn't important but its our future. Our government could be pushing us around and screwing us over and most people wouldn't know. All of our generation needs to know more about what goes on in our government.

  1. Sounds like you picked the right major! Where do you go to stock shows? Are they here at WT or through another organization?
